Living wild

As a child living in the ancient industrial city of Gera in Germany,
Horst Klemm looked at the great forests at the edge of the city – and dreamed of the vast plains of Africa. It was not castles and kings that fascinated him. It was the exploits of the 19th century adventurers, explorers and traders who brought back stories of strange creatures and untamed tribes from "The Dark Continent".
His long journey from Europe to Africa took him by canoe up to the most remote reaches of the Amazon River, into the deep jungles of Papua New Guinea, across the Arabian Desert on a camel. Often armed with nothing but his camera.

Today Horst Klemm is an internationally-acclaimed photographer and author who brings Africa as Art to the world. At the same time Horst Klemm has made his mark in the equally adventurous and demanding world of advertising, winning numerous awards for global clients, including BMW, Volkswagen, Daimler-Chrysler, Audi, Nissan, De Beers, Anglo American, SA Breweries, SA Airways, SA National Parks and many more.
